Powering the Future: Supporting young people into sustainable careers

GreenPower is delighted to support the Powering Futures Schools Challenge Programme in 2025. Following its successful involvement in Powering Futures’ Schools Challenge Programme in 2024, GreenPower has once again joined the programme in 2025 as a Schools Partner with a particular focus on Oban High School in Argyll.

The Challenge Programme is a project-based, interdisciplinary learning course where students work in teams to solve real-world industry problems set by businesses, working towards a SCQF Level 6 qualification, and is active in over 100 schools across Scotland. GreenPower is contributing £3,000 to support the programme in 2025.

As a Schools Partner, members of the GreenPower team will be involved in classroom sessions, supporting the delivery of teaching by providing first-hand experience of the working world, as well as providing feedback on group projects during lessons and in presentations.

Nick Fennell, Development Manager from GreenPower: “I’m delighted we’re continuing to support the delivery of Powering Futures’ Schools Challenge Programme for another year. After seeing how enthused the school groups were about the course last year, I’m excited to get back into the classrooms to hear about this year’s projects, and hopefully pose some challenging questions to the participants. Courses like this are vital in connecting young people to the working world here in Scotland, so we’re very pleased to be a part of the programme once more.”

Jennifer Tempany, co-founder of Powering Futures: “We’re thrilled to have GreenPower on board as Schools Partners for 2025. The Powering Futures Schools Programme is equipping the next generation with the skills needed to thrive in the jobs of the future, preparing students for their careers and empowering them to navigate life beyond education. It is thanks to our partners like GreenPower that we will be delivering the programme to over 100 schools this year.”
