Badge of Honour – brings well deserved recognition

The Committee for the Scottish Downhill Association for Mountain Biking is made up of volunteers who put in their time and energy to make the SDA race series one of the best in the UK.

At the recent Scottish Cycling Awards Dinner, the Chairman of the SDA Colin Houston received a special Award in recognition of his long stewardship of the Association. The Badge of Honour is the highest accolade Scottish Cycling can award.

Once on the podium and true to style Colin was quick to acknowledge both his predecessors and those who work with him currently on the committee. “It really is a team effort, and I am delighted to accept this in recognition of what the SDA has achieved over the last 23 years”

Rob and Julie of GreenPower, long term sponsors of the SDA, were delighted to join the SDA committee’s table to celebrate Colin’s Award.

Other Awards

Heather Wilson, Junior elite world cup mountain bike rider was one of three nominees for the Female Rider of the Year. Jenny Holl double Paralympic gold medallist took the honours on this occasion.

The SDA were shortlisted for ‘Best Race Series’. In the end this went to Zetland Park Pump Track.
