GreenPower Intern Makes the Grade – Ready for a Renewable Future

Since I was a boy, I have been interested in how things work, and what makes the world tick. This would ultimately lead me on a path towards Engineering. Leading up to my university studies, I became increasingly interested in the energy industry. Back in 2012 I was fortunate enough to work at GreenPower International during my school work placement. This experience cemented both my interest in Engineering and the energy industry, but it also established a new interest in the growing renewables industry.

Studying in Aberdeen, much of my degree was angled towards the oil and gas industry, however as I progressed through my degree, I became acutely aware of the environmental and sustainability issues faced by the energy industry. With this in mind, and looking back at my placement with GreenPower, I became driven by a desire to dedicate myself to a career in the renewable energy industry. This led me to complete both my honours and masters dissertations on renewable energy technologies. My interest in renewables also led to me completing internships with Bibby Offshore and Moray Offshore, working in the offshore wind industry.

Having now graduated with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, with Merit, from Robert Gordon University, I am eager to realise my dream of working in the renewable energy industry. I have come a long way since 2012, but in part, my career goals started with a GreenPower internship.
