GreenPower was delighted to welcome local people to an afternoon of visits to its Carraig Gheal Wind Farm, in North Argyll in September.

The independent Scottish company organised bus tours up to Carraig Gheal wind farm from Kilchrenan Village Hall. The event was an opportunity for local residents to see the wind farm up close, many for the first time, and enjoy a rare dry day in the process — an uncommon treat for a wind farm visit! Around 30 local people took part.

Jennie Cowley, GreenPower Project Support Officer said: “The tours were well-attended, drawing visitors from Kilchrenan, Oban, Taynuilt, Portsonachan, and other nearby communities. Folk seemed to really appreciate the chance to experience the turbines up close and see the surrounding landscape. Throughout the day, GreenPower staff were on hand, both at the village hall and at the wind farm site, to meet with local people and answer questions. Local residents seemed to enjoy and appreciate the chance to ask the operational team about the wind farm’s day-to-day running and construction challenges.”

Sam Layton, Development Manager, extended his thanks to everyone involved in making the day a success, “with thanks to the local businesses that supported the event: Cromka Bake and Dine, Kilchrenan Inn, and Kinetic Studio. And a special thanks to Garelochhead Coaches for successfully negotiating the long drive up to the wind farm.”
