EV Charging

GreenPower is evolving to not just generating clean electricity ‘upstream’, but now also downstream through Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging. We installed our first EV charging point in 2021 and are working to grow our network across Scotland. Our principles for EV charging are focussed on the customer experience. Our EV charging infrastructure has to be reliable, accessible, easy to use, affordable and in the right locations. We want everyone to have access to EV Charging, so our rural communities need to be included and we are developing innovative financing solutions to ensure that this happens.

Context

Transport produced 28% of the UK’s total emissions in 2022, and remains the largest emitting sector in the UK. The majority (89%) of emissions from domestic transport came from road vehicles (100.7 MtCO2e)1. So reducing our emissions from road vehicles will have a big impact on reversing climate change.

The good news is that this is already happening with Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) becoming more affordable and popular with over 1 in 5 new cars being a BEV2. As EV uptake accelerates the need for quality EV Charging Infrastructure will become increasingly important. GreenPower are determined to play a significant role in bringing this to reality.

Expertise

Our staff have been driving EV’s since 2018 (maybe earlier for Rob & Julie) and have extensive experience of both EV’s and the EV charging infrastructure in Scotland and throughout Europe. We have detailed knowledge of Fast chargers (7kW/22kW AC) and Rapid chargers (50-350kW DC) and select the best technology to meet the needs of our clients. We have deep links within the EV charging community and are working to both increase the amount of EV charging infrastructure across Scotland, but also to improve the experience of EV users as the popularity of EV’s continues to increase.

Forrester Lodge, Alloa

Our first EV charging point was installed at the Ceteris Forrester Lodge building in 2021. The office is situated next to the Inglewood House and Spa in Alloa, Scotland. The EV charging point was in near constant use by one of the tenant companies who operated a fleet of Tesla EV’s, and proved to be a reliable and convenient unit. The placement of the charging point at a workplace car park combined with the simple smart cards provided by GreenPower enabled users to conveniently charge with minimal effort.
