Leadership
As a strong independent voice in the renewable energy sector, we speak up for more urgent action on the climate emergency, to create a greener economy, for people and nature – it’s about more than generating clean power and fuels.
Advocacy
GreenPower actively engages across industry, NGOs, governments and interest groups to advocate change, to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy. We are active in industry groups and trade associations.
We have played a key role in advocating for robust National Planning Frameworks to drive action on climate change, and in setting leading targets for the UK and Scotland for renewable energy. We work with all political parties on a politically neutral basis. Our CEO, Rob Forrest, was a founder of Scottish Renewables and has chaired the board of directors. Our Director of Development, George Baxter, was a founder of Highland Renewables and is the current vice-chair of Solar Energy Scotland.
We support leading edge policy change in a variety of ways, from contributing to industry working groups to direct engagement with Ministers and advisers. We encourage individuals and communities to advocate for change too, and to support renewable energy developments.
Collaboration
Collaborating and partnering with like-minded bodies is a huge part of GreenPower’s DNA. Working in industry groups helps to amplify what industry needs.
And, currently, we are members of:
-
Solar Energy UK
-
Solar Energy Scotland
-
Renewable UK
-
Hydrogen Scotland
-
Highland Renewables
-
Scottish Onshore Wind Developers Forum
-
Argyll and Bute Renewable Alliance
-
British Hydropower Association

Safety On
We have established long-term relationships with NGOs, such as the RSPB, to work constructively to tackle challenges for nature, people and the climate.
GreenPower has been a sponsor of the Community Initiative Award at the Nature of Scotland Awards for over ten years. We have worked in partnership with NatureScot to improve access to nature close to one of our wind farm developments.
And we have successfully worked with others to advocate for tougher climate change and renewable energy targets.
