Earlier this year I said:
“The job of switching away from fossil fuels to renewable energy is far from a done deal. Now more than ever we need politicians of all parties to step up and speak out for renewable energy….”
Sadly, I read with dismay the article in today’s Alloa Advertiser written by Mark Ruskell Green MSP which highlights the UK Government is considering giving approval for a vast new oil field in the North Sea.
Mark rightly highlights the disastrous environmental consequences if this oil field is approved.
“… the field will operate until 2050, years after Scotland aims to hit net-zero emissions and significantly past the point at which it will be too late to rescue the environment.”
Scottish politicians have set ambitious Scottish targets for renewables and we must focus on a transition away from fossil fuels.
