A Night of Outstanding Achievements in Oban

In September, Development Manager Nick Fennell was delighted to be invited to attend the annual Senior Prizegiving evening at Oban High School. The evening celebrates the efforts of all of the pupils over the past academic year, with awards given to recognise high levels of achievement, contribution to the school community, and overcoming adversity. This year, the guest speaker was Gary Innes, founding member of folk band Mànran, who gave an excellent speech about following your passions through your career.

Alongside impressive musical performances and other award presentations, Nick presented the Carraig Gheal Senior Geography prize to Riona Megan, who was in the class for GreenPower’s design-a-wind-farm workshop earlier in the year. She said ‘I am extremely grateful to GreenPower for this generous prize.  I hope to go to university to study either Environmental Science, Geography or Earth Sciences.  I intend to use the prize to purchase some walking boots for doing fieldwork when I go to university.’

We wish Riona and her classmates all the best for their final year of school and in their next steps.
