GreenPower Championing Scottish Downhill Mountain biking – an update mid-season

The first three races of the Mountain Bike downhill racing season are already behind us. GreenPower sponsors the Scottish Downhill Association and here is an update as we look forward to the final events of the racing year in August and September.

Round three of the SDA series at Glencoe on the 28th and 29th June was also the Scottish Championships, following some thrilling races at Innerleithen in April and Fort William in May.

Julie Kirk of GreenPower said: “Gale force winds on the Friday in Glencoe made marking out the track difficult and the high winds with gusts of 70mph continued on the Saturday forcing the practice day to be cancelled. However, by the Sunday the sun was shining and temperatures were roasting.  With only one race run on Sunday afternoon riders were getting as many practice runs in as they could in the morning.

“The Scottish Downhill Association committee did a fantastic job under difficult weather conditions and all credit to the staff at Glencoe, particularly Fraser Houston who was instrumental in getting the red run into such good shape.  Many long hours on the hill in all weathers was appreciated by all those who took part in the racing on Sunday.

“GreenPower is delighted to continue our long association and sponsorship of biking and the SDA. It is such an exciting sport, and being fully human, renewably powered too, our partnership is a natural one.”
