Majority of Scots Again Show Support for Renewables

A Scottish Renewables YouGov poll shows that “70% of those polled want to see more renewable energy such as wind, solar, wave and tidal” and two-thirds agreed that the next government should “continue to take forward policies that tackle greenhouse gas emissions and climate change”.

Rob Forrest, CEO of GreenPower and recently elected to the Board of Scottish Renewables, added “This shows once again that there is still overwhelming public support for further growth in renewable energy in Scotland. The public are clear that they understand the challenges presented by climate change and want to see a move to clean green power and to move away from reliance on fossil fuels. The poll sends a clear message to all the Scottish political parties ahead of the May elections, but with the key drivers for deployment of renewable energy sitting at Westminster it is now time the UK government took note of the will of the people and reinstate support for wind and solar, the two technologies best able to rapidly deliver low cost clean electricity”.
