GreenPower is delighted to announce the installation of a new solar roof, formally opened Frday 27th February 2026 at the Dunblane Centre. GreenPower funded and arranged the installation of a 50kW rooftop solar array.
The Dunblane Centre is a charity providing a range of community facilities and services, and was built using the funds donated to the community following the tragedy at Dunblane Primary School in 1996. When a trustee from the Centre asked Rob & Julie Forrest, owners of GreenPower and long term Dunblane residents, if they could provide some support to the Centre, they proposed installing a solar array that would provide a long term and sustainable source of clean power, helping both the finances of the centre and the environment.
96 panels have been installed and most of the electricity generated will be used by the Centre, reducing running costs. It is estimated that the system could save the centre between £5,000 and £9,000 per annum. The system was installed by Lynx Sustainable Solutions.
Julie Forrest, GreenPower Director said: “Helping this important community facility to reduce energy bills by installing a solar array seemed like the best way we could help and we are delighted to see it all come to fruition. The panels will also help to reduce the environmental impact of the centre in a sustainable way.”
Duncan Wren, GreenPower Technical Lead on Solar added: “What a brilliant way to support the centre and huge congratulations to everyone involved in the installation and making it happen. I was delighted to meet some of the young people of Dunblane at the opening and so in many ways this project is about putting a spotlight on future generations.”
