We’re proud to share that we’ve recently sponsored and provided new jackets for Currie FC girls’ U12 football team known as the Currie Bees – building on our previous support for the boys’ U13 teams at Currie Star FC.
Robert Forrest, GreenPower CEO said: “For us, this isn’t just about new kit. It’s about reinforcing our commitment to equality and equal opportunity in sport. Every young player, regardless of gender, deserves the same level of encouragement, visibility, and support to thrive.”
Grassroots sport plays a vital role in building confidence, teamwork, and resilience. By backing both girls’ and boys’ teams, we hope to play a small part in creating a more inclusive sporting environment where talent and passion are what truly matter.
The partnership came about through our very own Nick Forgan, who works with us here at GreenPower, and has kids in both the girls and boys teams. “I was delighted when asked to secure a girls team to sponsor, and we’re excited to see both teams wearing their jackets with pride this season – we look forward to continuing to support initiatives that promote fairness, opportunity, and community.”
The Currie Bees team are playing in grading matches ahead of their first season in 9 a side football and secured a 7-0 win on Sunday to start their campaign. In May 2026 the team will travel south to Wales to play in their first international tournament, further opening their eyes to the relationships that can be built whilst playing sport. The team are raising money for their adventure via various events, but donations can be made via Currie Bees Girls football team tournament fundraiser! The team also give regular updates via their Instagram account and are on the lookout for another couple of players to help strengthen their squad. Currie Bees Girls Football Team (@currie_bees)
