Barachander Wind Farm Pre-Application Consultation

GreenPower held a number of community consultation events in September on our Barachander Wind Farm proposal in north Argyll. Drop in sessions and exhibitions were held in Portsonachan, Taynuilt, and Kilchrenan. An additional event was held in Oban High School focused on our Argyll Hydrogen Hub planning application which was also submitted this month to Argyll and Bute Council.

Development Director George Baxter said: “The events were extremely useful and informative. There were many good conversations, and we were very grateful to receive feedback and to get the opportunity to discuss both concerns some people have about the project and the opportunities that it presents to benefit the local community. We will be digesting the feedback and will report back to local people at a future event before the final planning application is submitted. One thing I noticed about all the discussions I was involved in was that there was real recognition of just how serious the climate crisis is, much more so than we have encountered at other similar events in the past. Our intention is to deliver a project that will provide overall benefits for people, wildlife and the planet and the feedback is an important part of that. It was also great to hear about projects and ideas that the community benefits would be able to contribute towards within the local area”.

Feedback for this stage of the project can still be submitted up until the 13th of October with forms and details available on the website here:  https://greenpowerinternational.com/current-projects/barachander-wind-farm/.
