GreenPower is delighted to announce that Emmet McLaughlin, Project Manager, has been shortlisted as one of four finalists in the Leader Award category of the Scottish Renewables 2016 Young Professionals Green Energy Awards.

The Leader Award is for “an individual who has led a successful team and who has displayed outstanding leadership skills and achievement through their work”. Emmet joined GreenPower in 2012 and his exceptional performance on a number of projects led to his nomination, including the installation of the Fordoun turbine in only eight weeks to ensure that it met its Feed in Tarrif accreditation deadline. Rob Forrest, CEO of GreenPower stated, “Emmet provided excellent leadership not just to the in-house team, but to contractors and advisers – this was an opportunity with not a moment to waste. Emmet’s incisive decision making, enthusiasm and downright dogged determination made an otherwise impossible project possible”.

GreenPower’s Carie 500kW hydro project near Loch Rannoch was also led by Emmet and faced a number of unique challenges including the presence of unexploded bombs and re-positioning of the pipeline and powerhouse to protect a mature oak tree. Iain Henderson, Managing Director of Global Infrastructure Ltd who was awarded the civil works contract added, “Emmet very quickly developed a rapport with our site team which led to extremely effective communication streams being established which ultimately minimised any potential delay to the project though rapid efficient decision making. From the outset of the project, Emmet’s determination and commitment to deliver a product of the highest quality on time was apparent. Emmet’s personal and professional leadership qualities were a credit to Green Power on the project.” Glowing testimonials were also provided by Gardiner & Theobold, Forestry Commission Scotland and Perth and Kinross Council Planning Authority.

GreenPower will be attending the gala dinner at the Glasgow Science Centre on 26th May and wish Emmet every success in the final of this prestigious award.
