Despite the forecast for high winds and rain about 60 hardy riders turned up at Glencoe to enjoy a weekend of riding and to attend the AGM of the Scottish Downhill Association (SDA).

The AGM held on Saturday evening updated the riders on the finances of the SDA. Despite incurring a small loss over the year the Chair, Colin Houston, considered the Association to be in good health.

Sponsorship funds, including GreenPower’s £6,000, has been invested in some much needed equipment, namely a new events trailer and graphics and a new LED display board. Both items will be of great use over the coming years. GreenPower also handed over an additional cheque for £4,000 for the continuing support of the SDA Academy.

Riders’ race fees have to cover the costs of organising each race and only one event had to be cancelled due to lack of numbers.

The committee all agreed to stand for another year but also asked riders and the families to step forward to help ensure sufficient marshals were available at each race. Help is also required during race set up and taking down.

Colin announced that the SDA were currently tendering to run the British Downhill Association races in Scotland. The committee should hear soon whether they have been successful.

A vote of thanks to the committee for their hard work came from the riders.
